An automated plant control system to allow the paper mill to utilise multiple storage vessels.
The client has been manufacturing paper on the same site since 1845. They're proud of their award-winning dedication to fulfil clients' needs whilst still maintaining the highest sustainability standards.
The Problem & Goal
The customer needed an additional storage vessel within their process so that they could manufacture differing bulk ingredients and store these separately from each other as the existing process layout only had one storage vessel for the bulk product and restricted manufacturing processes.The customer also required the system to be fully automated so that as well as storing the differing products, it could automatically batch the products to ongoing processes with minimal operator intervention.
The Solution
We worked with the clients project engineer to decide on the best process design, instrument selection and to confirm the desired operation of the plant. Together we developed a control philosophy for the system including helping to develop the P&ID diagrams.We designed the complete electrical installation including mains distribution, control circuits and final circuits.We designed and manufactured the new electrical control panels including, electrical schematics, PLC selection/programming and complete all the SCADA programming.We designed and manufactured the pneumatic control panels and completed the full pneumatic installation at site.We worked with the project and operations team at site to commission the plant in a timely and prompt manner.
The Results & Benefits
The system was left working exactly as required by the customer. The system offered the client significant extra storage as well as the ability to store differing products that could be automatically batched to downstream processes.
