Protect your business with dedicated access control

Strengthen your business's security with an access control system that’s safe, efficient and effective. Whether you’re overseeing a large industrial site, a care home or a commercial premises, an access control system maintains a safe, secure and manageable environment for you, your customers and your team.An access control system is an electronic security system used by businesses to control access to buildings, workspaces and other designated areas. Usually, an administrator allocates access permission to staff - either for individuals, roles, or functions. Staff then use identification methods like cards or fobs to gain access to areas using door readers based on their access permissions.

Benefits of Access Control Systems

With an access control system from Bainbridge, you’ll keep your people and assets safe by preventing unauthorised access to your premises. Regulating who enters sensitive areas, only authorised personnel have access to specific zones. Reducing the risk of theft or intrusions, you’ll protect your business from external threats.

Further to this, access control has several benefits over other security systems:

  • No need for physical keys. Eliminating the need for physical keys, employees can enter restricted areas with personalised access cards or fobs.
  • Remote access management. The access control system can be managed from anywhere, with access being granted or revoked in real-time, no matter where you are, for up-to-the-minute control.
  • Customisable access. Different employees or visitor groups can have specific access permissions, giving you complete control over who can enter your building or specific areas.
  • Audit trails and reporting. You’ll get a clear record of who entered specific areas and when, with detailed reports of all access events
  • Emergency lockdown capability. Your building or facility can be secured quickly and efficiently in case of a threat or emergency, keeping your team and visitors safe.

Types of access control technology & readers

We offer several types of technology are used to implement your access control system of choice. From keycards and fobs to biometric readers, here are the most effective types of access control technology:

  • Keypad system: Keypad systems use alphanumeric codes to limit access to areas. While the ability to remotely update codes is helpful, there are downsides. Codes can easily be forgotten or shared with others, compromising your visibility over access.
  • Keycard readers: As well as more established swipe card readers, where data is stored in a magnetic strip that’s swiped through a card reader, there are also RFID cards. Radiofrequency identification uses the same technology as contactless card payments, sending signals to readers based on a user’s access requirements.
  • Fob readers: Key fobs are a popular option for many businesses. Small and portable, they can easily be attached to keyrings so staff have easy access and are less likely to lose them.
  • Biometric readers: A more modern addition to the access control system arsenal, biometric technology like fingerprint readers give you certainty and accountability about exactly who is accessing areas at all times.
